The Chhatra Dal has announced a two-day protest program in
protest of the BCL's attack on the party leaders and workers.
Chhatra Dal central president Kazi Raunkul Islam Sraban
announced the program at a press conference at the BNP's central office in the
capital's Naya Paltan on Tuesday night (May 24).
The two-day program will include protest rally in
educational institutions (colleges and universities) across the country on May
26 and in districts and cities across the country on May 27.
At the press conference, Chhatra Dal general secretary Jewel
alleged that 80 leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal, including women leaders,
were injured in the armed attack of Chhatra League at Dhaka University. Many of
them are in critical condition. The BCL carried out the attack with hockey
sticks, rods, ramdas, chapatis and indigenous weapons during a pre-announced
program on campus.
He said that even women Chhatra Dal leaders Mansura Alam,
Rehena Akhter Shirin, Shanjida Yasmin Tuli, Syeda Sumaiya Parveen and Tanvi
Mallick were not spared from the attack. They have also been beaten on the
road. They picked up two student leaders and threw them in the drain of
Shahidullah Hall and tortured them. Besides, the BCL workers are harassing the
injured leaders, workers and even the doctors treating the injured leaders and
workers.
