The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has given an idea about how much bus and launch fares may increase after the increase in fuel oil prices in the country.

According to a press release from the ministry on Saturday (August 6), bus fares may increase by a maximum of 29 paisa per kilometer and launch by 42 paisa.

According to the ministry, at present the fare of each passenger in long-distance buses (52 seats) is 1 taka 80 paisa per kilometer. As the price of diesel is increased by 34 Tk per litre, this fare will increase by 29 paisa per kilometer. The fare is increasing by 16.22 percent per kilometer.

At present, the bus fare in the city area (52 seats) is 2 taka 15 paisa per passenger per kilometer. With an increase of 28 paisa per kilometer, this fare will be equivalent to two taka 43 paisa. The fare is increasing by 13.16 percent per kilometer.

Apart from this, the current fare for each passenger per kilometer on the launch is 2 taka 19 paisa. This fare will be increased by 42 paisa per kilometer to 2 taka 61 paisa. Accordingly, the fare will increase by 19.18 percent per kilometer.

On Friday night (August 5), the government issued a notification to increase the price of fuel, which is a record in terms of rate of price increase. In case of diesel and kerosene, the price has increased by Tk 34 per liter. Petrol has increased by Tk 44 and octane by Tk 46. This price is effective from 12 midnights on Friday.
