Bangladesh exercising maximum restraint on Myanmar border: PM

In a meeting with Britain's Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Labor Party, Sir Keir Starmer, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, Bangladesh is exercising maximum restraint, despite the spillover effects of the conflict within its territory.

The Prime Minister is now in London on a four-day visit to attend the state funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

According to the Prime Minister's Press Wing, Sheikh Hasina reiterated her deep grief over the death of the Queen.

Sheikh Hasina informed the Labor Party leader about the growing burden on Bangladesh due to the prolonged presence of Rohingyas from Myanmar. They discussed the recent escalation of armed conflict near the border with Bangladesh.

Britain's Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Labor Party, Sir Keir Starmer, said, "Bangladesh and the United Kingdom have an excellent relationship and this relationship has been strengthened by British citizens of Bangladeshi origin."

Sir Starmer thanked the Prime Minister for paying tribute to the Queen. They also recalled Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's meeting and personal relationship with former Prime Minister of Britain's Labor Party, Sir Harold Wilson.
