Anti-trafficking raid in Teknaf, 15 Malaysia-bound youth rescued

BGB and police have rescued 15 Bangladeshi youths by raiding the hideout of organized human trafficking ring in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. They were taken for the purpose of trafficking to Malaysia. Teknaf-2 BGB Battalion conducted this operation on Tuesday night.

Battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar told the media that they learned in secret information that, 15 people interested to go to Malaysia illegally were kept the house of Jamal Hossain (55), the son of the deceased Nazir Ahmed of Teknaf municipality.

Based on this information, the BGB and the police launched a joint operation around 9pm. The Bangladeshi nationals were rescued in the operation. The rescuers have been handed over to the Teknaf police station for further action. Colonel Sheikh Khalid also said that Jamal Hossain was absconding and could not be arrested.
