Tama Mirza was tortured by her husband for dowry

The court has fixed January 5 for the submission of the investigation report in the case filed against husband Hisham Chisti for beating actress Mirza Farzana Yasmin Tama (Tama Mirza) for dowry.

The investigation report of the case was scheduled to be submitted on Tuesday (December 21). But as the investigating officer of the case did not submit the report, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khair set a new date.

Earlier, on the night of December 5, 2020, Tama Mirza filed a case against Hisham Chishti at the Badda Police Station on the charge of the Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act, including the Domestic Violence Act, Digital Security Act, and assault for dowry. Case No. 8 (12) 20.

Hisham Chishti, a Canadian expatriate, got married to Tama Mirza a year and a half ago. After marriage, Hisham used to beat Tama Mirza for no reason. The people of the in-laws' house asked for a dowry of TK 20 lakh from Tama's father for business. Thinking of her daughter's happiness, Tama's parents gave 10 lakh rupees to Hisham at different times. A few days later, Hisham beats Tama again. Exhausted by the torture, Tama moved to her father's house.

Complaining about the case, Tama further said, "Hisham came to my house on December 5, 2020, at around 3 pm. When my parents came from the next room after hearing me screaming, Hisham also beat them. With the vase in the house, he hit my mother's back and head and various parts of my body. As a result, I was injured along with my parents."

‘Then Hisham intimidated and threatened my parents and me. He threatened to kill us and publish many pictures and videos of my personal moments with him on social media and in the media.’

It may be mentioned that on May 7, 2019, Tama Mirza married Hisham Chisti, a Canadian citizen of Bangladeshi descent. Although Tama Mirza is currently in the country, Hisham Chishti is in Canada.
